And if you decide to change the outfits later on, you can get the NPCs to pick up the changes, or even put them back to their standard outfit. The NPC classes that can be assigned to the outfit correspond to the main types of NPC outfits in Skyrim. I wonder if this would make them work. I noticed that you change the hair and all sorts of stuff. So that was all add item menu? The kids do have kids clothing that already exist they can wear. So for other NPCs, I need additional mods for the clothes themselves? Do you have any suggestions?

If you’ve ever tried to give your follower some swanky new armor, you’ll know that Skyrim’s vanilla outfit system leaves a lot to be desired. Equipment you give to people doesn’t stay equipped after you dismiss them, and inventory management is really only available for followers. The system just isn’t powerful enough to support basic features that you may expect.Well, the mod I’ve been working on for the past little bit aims to rectify all these problems.

As the name suggests, this mod gives you direct control over what NPCs wear. It works for all NPCs that are allies and above, not just followers, and it supports fully custom outfits-including mod-added outfits. But the best part?

Its technical simplicity. It’s very lightweight, it doesn’t run any scripts once the outfit is equipped, and it actually works. It also doesn’t require SKSE of any sort, so it works seamlessly with Classic, Special Edition, and yes-Xbox.You can see the mod in action.

(I added some commentary in the subtitles, so I recommend you turn those on)At the moment, you can get it for:.An Xbox release should be forthcoming. I do not have an Xbox to test on, so if you play on Xbox or have released mods on Xbox and are interested in helping me test this, please send me a PM!While I’m here, I want to quickly thank a few people:. for helping me test this on SSE and for his advice in actually releasing this thing, and.

for providing early on in the processThank you so much for reading - I hope you enjoy the mod!Edit July 31st, 2018: I've released Simple NPC Outfit Manager 1.1, with more outfit slots, bugfixes, and more options! The links remain the same, so go check them out!. Ohh, I think I see what you mean. Yeah, I suppose my approach could be extended to do that; instead of equipping it directly, just throw it into a leveled list that bandits will then draw from.I think the problem remains that I don't want to dilute what I have. This works well for what it does and I don't want to push it out of where it's best. That said, I am certainly not opposed to someone else building that mod out of what I have and then releasing it on their own, as long as I'm credited.

I'll try it next time I fire up Skyrim, but I have a few questions/notes:. Are the 5 outfit slots in the dialogue for the whole population, or are there 5 slots per NPC?. What happens if you make an outfit with 2 different pair of boots, for example? Do they equip the strongest one?. Does the mod also handle weapons?. The 'generic outfit' option feels like a cheat to me, because I don't need to pay nor to own the pieces already. Just to give a possible idea, in the SSE version of Convenient Horses, you can ask followers to buy a horse for themselves.

You have to give them money, and they will go to the stables of a city and come back with their mount a while later.Regardless, this is promising. I wish you success. To answer your questions:.The 5 outfit slots are for the entire population, but updating an outfit on one NPC does not change it on everyone else. So it's entirely possible to have NPCs wearing many more than five different outfits. Regardless, I'll look into adding more slots.I haven't tested that scenario specifically, but I would imagine it picks the nicer one of the two. This does not handle weapons, just outfits.

IMO, the vanilla weapon system is serviceable enough (far more than the vanilla outfit system).A few people have remarked this, and it's definitely something I'll need to take a look at if I update this. Honestly, though, I put a lot of those options in as a workaround to the uninstallation problem that you can read about on the Nexus page. If I restrict the generic outfits, it may impact peoples' ability to uninstall the mod.

Regardless, it may be worthwhile to restrict some of the really nice armors behind a level wall or something. Thanks again!.
