♢ Love to build? Want a new pack? Not sure which pack or computer to buy? ♢ Practical links. I'm a sims 2 machinima maker, and a mac user. I have the sims 2 super collection which is a download from the app store, but apartment life and free time were never coded for macs.so it doesn't include them. In order to reach my full movie making potential, i would like apartment life and free time.I've heard that you can run bootcamp and install the games on there - but i guess i am just confused on how exactly that works and how id go about it.
Would i have to re-install the PC disk version of every single game while bootcamp is running? How exactly does it work?also, i have the old sims 2 mac disks, and i tried to install them (not on bootcamp) but it literally said the games are too old to be installed.how do i know it wouldn't say that if i were to run bootcamp too?any advice or knowledge is appreciated, thank you. I've recently dealt with this situation.:(The only thing you can do is set up a partition with bootcamp. So, basically, what you do is run Boot Camp Assistant (it comes already installed on your Mac), and you essentially install Windows on your computer. So, as you run the utility, it'll ask you to allocate space on your HD for Windows. I have a 256 GB 2015 MBP. The first time, I allocated like 45 GB.and it wasn't enough. Windows itself takes up a bit of space, and the Ultimate Collection is 12 GB. What I wound up doing is uninstalling the Super Collection on my Mac to make more room, and moved a bunch of extra stuff to my EXT HD.and then installed the partition.Luckily for you, you have the Sims 2 CDs.
Buy Sims 2
If you have a copy of the Base Game's CD preferably with the key, once you download Origin on your Windows partition, you can contact Origin's online support and they can gift you the Ultimate Collection. (You might face resistance, but just be persistent, and offer to show a picture of your game collection/etc)(Now you might be wondering why you don't just contact Origin right now, get the Ultimate Collection, and install it on your Mac as is. Well, the unfortunate thing is that the Ultimate Collection ONLY runs on Windows.). Luckily for you, you have the Sims 2 CDs. If you have a copy of the Base Game's CD preferably with the keyI have the mac CD's.but im guessing i would need to get the windows CD's then?you download Origin on your Windows partitionokay, so when i do this, it's like i have a fresh computer basically? And then i can 'turn it off' and it goes back to my regular computer? Also what exactly does 'partition' mean?So the ultimate collection is a downloadable sims 2 collection off origin for windows only?I'm wondering if i were to use bootcamp for filming, would i easily be able to switch back and forth from bootcamp and non-bootcamp in order to multitask and use my editor while filming?
Or is that not possible while using bootcamp?thanks for the information, its great that there's someone else out there who knows what im going through! This sounds difficult, but you make it sound like it's not so bad. I have the mac CD's.but im guessing i would need to get the windows CD's then?I think the Mac CDs should suffice.okay, so when i do this, it's like i have a fresh computer basically? And then i can 'turn it off' and it goes back to my regular computer? Well.probably not? It depends on what you're filming:S If you're filming in TS2, you would have to save that to an external HD, and then put it on your Macbook to edit it.
E.g., I found out the hard way that if you have an external HD that you started using with a windows PC/laptop/whatever, you can't directly edit files on it from your Mac. You would have to copy the file from the HD and put it actually on your Mac. I hope that makes sense:SYes, filming with the sims 2. I have an external hard drive that i have always used with a mac. So this is what you're saying: i film in boot camp, drag the files (the clips) to the external hard drive, turn off boot camp, drag the files out of the external hard drive and onto my mac and into my editor?would the files i filmed with in bootcamp still be compatible with macs? Right now on my mac they are in.mov format, i would expect that on a PC (bootcamp) it would be different.
